Mechatronic Technician

GENERAL PURPOSE: The Mechatronic Technician supports manufacturing operations by ensuring the reliable, safe, and efficient performance of automated machinery and integrated mechanical–electrical systems. This role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and optimizing equipment that combines mechanical components, electrical controls, automation hardware, sensors, PLC driven systems, robotics (if applicable), and pneumatic/hydraulic circuits.
Technicians in this role perform preventive and emergency maintenance, assist with equipment upgrades, and collaborate with engineering and operations to improve system performance, uptime, and safety.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair on automated machinery, conveyors, robotics, and mechanical/electrical systems.
- Assist with diagnosing issues involving motors, sensors, relays, pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic PLC faults.
- Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters and, with training, VFD interfaces and basic PLC software.
- Test equipment after repair to verify safe and proper operation.
- PLC fault assistance (Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.) with guidance from senior techs as needed.
- Calibrate sensors, encoders, and other automation components.
- Support equipment startups and control system updates.
- Participate in root cause analysis activities with coaching from senior technicians or Manager.
Equipment Installation & UpgradesDocumentation & Safety
- Assist with installation of new equipment, including routing wiring, mounting components, and connecting sensors/automation devices under the direction of senior technicians.
- Support configuration of VFDs, servo drives, and control panels under supervision.
- Read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records in the CMMS.
- Follow all safety guidelines and help maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Support operator training on basic troubleshooting and safe machine use.General Responsibilities
- Assist with fabrication of brackets, safety guarding, and small mechanical components.
- Operate forklifts, manlifts, and scissor lifts (training provided).
- Help maintain spare parts inventory.
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to use basic hand tools and measurement tools
- Basic computer skills (CMMS, Microsoft Office)
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting aptitude
- Willingness to work overtime or be on call when needed
- Ability to meet physical demands of the role
- Technical certification in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Automation Technology, or similar
- Experience reading ladder logic or troubleshooting PLC faults
- Experience configuring VFDs or working with servo systems
- Fabrication or machining experience
- Forklift/manlift/scissor lift certification

- Follow the site management (General Manager, Plant Manager, Department Manager, Shift Supervisor) assignments for completing tasks and managing programs as part of the Safety Excellence System.
- Must follow the Training Matrix assigned in the Learning and Development System. Training could be assigned annually, Quarterly, or at the time of a new process/procedure.
- Must have a clear understanding of the STOP Work Process – Employees have the right to STOP the work at any time to gain a better understanding of the process or to ensure safety standards are met.
Pay: $22.00 - $29.00 per hour
