Role Summary:

The Manager, Enterprise Risk plays an important role within the Enterprise Risk function, with a primary focus on technology, cyber, data and operational risks across CPP Investments. Reporting to senior Enterprise Risk leadership, this role is responsible for forming independent risk assessments, providing constructive challenge, and maintaining partnership with stakeholders across the organization.

Enterprise Risk provides independent risk governance and constructive challenge while delivering integrated, forward-looking risk insights that enhance decision-making and improve enterprise and investment outcomes across CPP Investments. The group advances this mandate by focusing on material enterprise-wide and transversal risks, integrating operational, enterprise and investment perspectives.

Accountabilities & Qualifications:

Accountabilities:

  • Conduct independent risk assessments of technology, cyber, data, and operational risks, which includes assessment of inherent and residual risks and strength of risk management
  • Assess whether first-line risk posture, assumptions, and priorities are reasonable and proportionate to the nature and potential impact of the risks, and aligned with risk appetite
  • Contribute to the application and evolution of enterprise risk strategy, frameworks, taxonomy, appetite, and reporting, with emphasis on technology, cyber, data and operational risks.
  • Identify, monitor, and report on key and emerging risks and mitigation strategies with emphasis on technology, cyber, data risks.
  • Support advancing the use of new technology and tools to advance effective risk management and delivery of the Enterprise Risk function
  • Support robust Management and Board risk governance through clear, decision-relevant reporting.
  • Conduct and support operational due diligence on external fund managers, including assessing the effectiveness of their control environment across key non-investment risk areas such as technology and data, cybersecurity, valuation, compliance etc
  • Work closely with partners across Risk, Assurance & Advisory, Legal, and other stakeholders with risk oversight roles to deliver integrated risk oversight.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, technology, or other relevant field; graduate degree and relevant professional certifications are assets.
  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise, technology, operational, or risk management roles in a complex, institutional financial services, asset management or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated experience assessing or overseeing technology, cyber, data and operational risks in complex organizations.
  • Strong understanding of technology, cyber and data risk drivers and related control frameworks
  • Ability to translate technical issues into enterprise-level risk implications.
  • Ability to balance independent challenge and constructive partnership
  • Clear, concise communicator capable of supporting senior management decision-making
