Manager, Marketing Planning And Strategy - Data Analyst, Marketing Intelligence - Walmart Connect

Walmart
Brooklyn; New York, US

Job Description

Position Summary...About Walmart Connect:

Walmart Connect is Walmart's retail media business, connecting brands with 139 million+ weekly Walmart customers across digital, in-store, and omnichannel touchpoints.

The Marketing Intelligence team is a newly established Center of Excellence (CoE) serving as the analytical backbone for Walmart Connect's marketing organization. We partner with Lifecycle Marketing, Creative Operations, PMM, and other marketing teams to define how data is collected, what metrics matter, and what questions each team needs answered. Much of the infrastructure we will build does not yet exist — this is foundational, ground-up work.

We are looking for a Data Analyst to help stand up this CoE from the ground up. This role is not about maintaining existing systems — it's about building them. You will define data collection structures, establish metrics frameworks, and create analytical solutions where none currently exist. Expect ambiguity, evolving requirements, and mostly non-technical stakeholders.

What you'll do...Define Data Strategy & Measurement Foundations:

  • Partner with Lifecycle Marketing, Creative Operations & PMM to surface their data needs and key questions
  • Define data collection structures and how signals connect to business outcomes
  • Establish KPI and metric frameworks — often where none previously existed
  • Design analytical solutions from a blank page when existing tools or processes don't apply
  • Document methodologies so insights are repeatable and accessible to non-technical stakeholders

Marketing Measurement & Attribution:

  • Operationalize and maintain MRAM (Marketing Revenue Attribution Model) across 13 channels
  • Execute multi-touch attribution analyses with consistent methodology
  • Expand MRAM coverage as new channels and teams onboard

Reporting & Dashboard Development:

  • Build and maintain marketing performance dashboards for leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Create OKR dashboards that tie marketing activities to business outcomes
  • Ensure all outputs are accurate, timely, and readable by non-technical audiences

Data Quality & Analytical Integrity:

  • Validate data pipelines, KPI definitions, and attribution outputs
  • Standardize measurement definitions across marketing teams
  • Proactively identify and resolve data anomalies and gaps

Insights & Analysis:

  • Conduct deep-dive analyses to surface trends and opportunities for marketing leadership
  • Translate complex findings into plain-language narratives and actionable recommendations

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Embed with marketing teams as their analytical CoE partner
  • Lead discovery sessions with non-technical stakeholders to define data needs and communicate findings
  • Partner with Finance, Business Intelligence & Data Science on data governance and standards

What you'll bring...

  • 3+ years in a data analyst, marketing analyst, or business analyst role
  • Advanced SQL — complex queries on large datasets
  • BI & data visualization — Tableau, Looker, Power BI or equivalent
  • Marketing data experience — paid media, email, web analytics, funnel metrics
  • Strong analytical thinking — raw data to actionable insight, independently
  • Excellent communication — explains complex analysis clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Marketing, CS, or related

Preferred:

  • Attribution modeling — multi-touch, time decay, incrementality
  • Python or R for analysis and automation
  • Marketing measurement frameworks — OKRs, ROAS, brand vs. performance
  • Large-scale data tools — BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks
  • Retail media, e-commerce, or digital advertising experience

Who You Are:

Innovative — builds solutions where none exist; energized by blank-page problems

Curious — digs beyond the ask and surfaces insights others miss

Clear communicator — translates data into plain language for non-technical stakeholders

Resilient — comfortable navigating ambiguity and shifting requirements

Self-starter — proactive, independent, drives work forward without hand-holding

Collaborative — shares progress, flags blockers early, builds in partnership

Passionate — genuinely excited about measurement and building something meaningful
