Overview
A renowned Commercial Bank is now seeking to hire a Managing Director - Head of Risk to oversee and manage all risk functions including Credit Risk, Operational Risk, Enterprise risk, Market and liquidity risk, and Digital Risk for the bank.
Responsibilities
- Serving as the Department Head of the Risk Management Department of the bank, you will manage the regional credit risk, risk governance and management framework.
- Setting up relevant risk committees, organizing the risk management function, and developing risk management policies.
- Implementing a comprehensive risk management framework covering all risk types, such as credit, market, liquidity, operational, third-party, and cybersecurity risks.
- Formulating the bank's Risk Appetite Statement and Risk Appetite Metrics in collaboration with the business functions.
- Proactively identifying emerging risks arising from external environment changes and shifts in the bank's strategy.
- Guiding teams to conduct risk analysis and reach consensus on appropriate mitigation and control measures.
- Ensuring effective and efficient day-to-day risk management operations
- Continuously reviewing risks of new products and businesses, and providing effective challenges to the business functions.
- Leading initiatives to enhance risk governance, including implementing non-financial risk management frameworks.
- Reporting the bank's risk profile, analysis results, and project progress to committees and senior management.
- Overseeing the departmental operations and fulfilling other duties as required by the branch management and/or other departments.
Requirements:
- University degree in business, finance, economics or relevant disciplines.
- Require 25+ years of experience in commercial banking specializing in credit risk management (and other risks).
- Relevant Enhance Competency Framework (“ECF”) accreditation is preferred.
- Familiar with multiple risk areas, eg. credit risk/market/operational risk.
- Experience of direct communication with regulators in, e.g., on-site examination.
- Strong leadership skills to lead risk management team as 2nd LoD department.
- Strong project management, problem solving, logical thinking, and presentation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiar with various statistical and/or quantitative analytical methodologies.
- Due to daily language skills require, written and spoken English and Chinese is mandatory.
