Principal Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (level 3) to support the AARGM-ER, SiAW, and future programs with Advanced Weapons division.
This position requires the selected candidate to work full-time on site in Northridge California. Relocation assistance while not guaranteed, may be available.
The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (AME) is to launch innovative defense platforms from a manufacturing perspective. The AME will use advanced knowledge of manufacturing fundamentals to help Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) deliver innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers. The AME influences the development of NGDS’s next generation of defense products by supporting new products from concept development through the start of production for manufacturing cost, yield, schedule execution. The AME works closely with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Program Management, IPT Lead, Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Operations to ensure producibility meets program targets, including yield improvement and cost takeout.
The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the tasks outlined below:
Support Test Engineering, Mission Assurance, and Metrology to select and implement test equipment and measurement devices.
Defines and selects and as required, designs the equipment, tooling and processes required to easily assemble products.
Provides training and guidance to assemblers, inspectors, and technicians.
Participate in NC dispositions and CARs. to analyze problems and determine root cause of production problems.
Resolves assembly issues. Focus on process failure mode effects analysis (PFMEA).
Provide analysis utilizing Design for Manufacturability and Assembly techniques.
Support kaizens approval process and implementation.
Deliver presentations (PMR) to Customer (USAF, USN)
Supports the production team to ensure on-time deliveries.
Travel is required to support mission success.
Bachelor of Science with 5 years Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering; or Master’s with 3 years of Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering
Experience with work scheduling and maintaining execution of engineering activities
Experience with GD&T and familiarity with detail/assembly best practices
US Citizenship with Current Secret DOD clearance
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) / Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
PWB fabrication and CCA assembly process experience.
Injection Molding process
Understanding of and/or experience in additive manufacturing.
Test background (Test planning, execution, reporting, verification/validation)
Experience with Agile and EVMS
Experience with Yield Improvement Projects
Lean Six Sigma certification
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
