Summary

Seeks approval from others on matters outside of job/role scope. Receives instruction on specific assignment objectives and possible solutions. Unusual problems are solved jointly with manager. Work is reviewed for application of sound technical judgment. Will lead a work group or project team consisting of technical and support staff as required. Builds internal and external relationships as appropriate, with emphasis on those that facilitate the achievement of job/role accountabilities, such as relationships with key suppliers, customers and internal service. Implements process improvements. Presents complex information integrating several scenarios, Become a key advisor and is able to assist clients/user on vastly different issues. Ability to run a successful meeting with multiple people (i.e. agenda, timetable, demonstrate good time management, conclusion, follow-up and minutes.) Detailed Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical engineer to support our quoting and manufacturing planning process. This role is responsible for reviewing customer RFQs (Request for Quotation), evaluating technical requirements, and determining the labor, capital, and capacity needed to manufacture products efficiently and competitively.

The ideal candidate combines strong engineering knowledge with practical manufacturing insight and cost analysis experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

• Review and analyze customer RFQ documents, drawings, and technical data
• Develop accurate labor estimates required for product manufacturing
• Assess manufacturing processes and identify required capital equipment or tooling investments
• Evaluate production capacity and identify potential constraints or bottlenecks
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, supply chain) to develop cost models
• Provide recommendations for Design for Manufacturability (DFM) to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and mitigate risk
• Support quotation development with detailed cost breakdowns and assumptions
• Identify risks and opportunities within RFQs and propose mitigation strategies
• Continuously improve estimating methodologies and tools

Physical Demands

• Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment
• Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data
• Repetitive manual movements are frequently required (e.g. data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc)
• Occasional overnight travel may be required

Typical Experience

• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, cost estimation, or process engineering (preferred)
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, assembly, etc.)
• Experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
• Familiarity with cost modeling, labor standards, and capacity planning
• Proficiency in Excel and/or cost estimation tools
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Experience working with RFQs in a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
• Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience
• Exposure to capital equipment planning and ROI analysis

Typical Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field)
• Education experience may vary by geography.

Salary

The stated range includes Base Salary and target Short-Term Incentive (STI) compensation only. A comprehensive benefits package is offered in addition to this range.

Salary Range: $89,355-124,779 CAD/year
