Our client, a leading manufacturer of high-precision components, is seeking a skilled and innovative Manufacturing Engineer focused on Process Optimization. This role is crucial for enhancing the efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness of our manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for analyzing existing production processes, identifying bottlenecks and areas for improvement, and implementing solutions that leverage best practices in lean manufacturing and automation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of manufacturing principles, statistical process control (SPC), and problem-solving methodologies. You will work closely with production teams, quality assurance, and engineering departments to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities include developing and documenting standard operating procedures (SOPs), designing and implementing process improvements, conducting time studies, and evaluating new manufacturing technologies. You will play a vital role in reducing waste, improving cycle times, and ensuring product quality meets stringent standards. The Manufacturing Engineer will also be involved in the setup and validation of new equipment and tooling, as well as providing technical support to the production floor. Strong analytical skills, proficiency with CAD software, and a hands-on approach are essential for success in this role. Experience with Six Sigma methodologies and project management is highly desirable.
Responsibilities: Analyze current manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement. Develop and implement process optimization strategies utilizing lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies. Design, test, and implement new manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all manufacturing processes. Utilize statistical process control (SPC) to monitor and improve process capability and quality. Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions. Conduct time studies and value stream mapping to identify and eliminate waste. Evaluate and recommend new manufacturing technologies and automation solutions. Support new product introductions (NPI) by ensuring manufacturability and optimizing production processes. Train production personnel on new processes and equipment. Maintain accurate documentation of process changes and improvements. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on process improvement and optimization. Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt preferred), and SPC. Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong understanding of production machinery, tooling, and manufacturing equipment. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
