Your role
The Manufacturing Engineer - Tooling is responsible for working closely with manufacturing planning and CNC shop personnel to identify, prepare, and maintain reliable tooling for use in production machining and automation.
Essential Functions:
- Aid in identifying, specifying, and testing new tooling to support CNC milling, turning, grinding, and deburring.
- Design, build, and test tooling and fixtures for process improvements.
- Fabricate, modify, and/or repair tooling, jigs, fixtures, and automation components.
- Provide manufacturing engineering support to the operational team as directed.
- Help maintain data system integrity by assisting with tasks such as change orders, non-conformance tracking, and system routing updates.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that support goals in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, and Cost Performance.
- Assist in performing time studies for assembly processes to support proper routing and improve process flow.
- Help with the definition, setup, and preparation of job orders and manufacturing tooling as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues, customers, and vendors to gather information, understand requirements, and assist in improving production techniques.
- Assist in creating and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical specifications for manufacturing equipment.
- Help document designs, including creating drawings, specifications, and materials lists.
- Participate in training sessions on process, procedures, and documentation to help build and maintain workforce skills within assigned manufacturing areas.

Education level
- Bachelor degree in engineering, mechanical or manufacturing preferred. Industry experience would be considered in the absence of a degree.
Relevant Previous experience
- 2-3 years experience in manufacturing, machining, assembly or operations environment,
- Experience with CNC equipment - Milling, turning, and or/grinding
- Experience with toolroom equipment - Manual lathe, CNC Knee-Mill, Surface Grinder
Knowledge areas/Skills
- CAD/CAM experience with Fusion 360, Inventor, Mastercam, Unigraphics, or other systems.
- Experience/knowledge of Kaizen, 6S, Lean Manufacturing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks.
- Advanced Excel, Word, Autocad, Project, Solidworks
