Job Description

Manufacturing Engineer

REPORTS TO: Director Of Operations; Quote parts, process new jobs, develop tooling designs, create internal prints, and applies knowledge of specific departmental procedures, operating techniques, and Company policies.

Determines job costs and prepares quotes for new and old jobs and processes the jobs applying knowledge of specific departmental procedures, Company policies, manufacturing processes, and fixture design.

Communicates with customers in a clear and timely manner to provide estimates on new and repeating manufactured components.

Designs tooling and fixturing to meet production demands and print requirements.Acquires purchased components and raw materials to have made into tooling and fixturing as necessary.

Creates Bill of Materials (BOM’s) for sub-parts, sub-assemblies, and purchased components per customer requirements.

5 to interpret and add to internal drawings, process routers, providing written flow down and guidance to the internal company as well as outsourced processing.

Works with customers to provide guidance on Design for Manufacturability of their parts/products to optimize customer and company fit.

Works as a member of the Material Review Board to analyze trends in nonconforming material and recommends actions to improve processes, training etc.

Creates and maintains company manufacturing processes including process routers and internal prints, making improvements and adjustments as new techniques, skills, measuring equipment, and machines are acquired.

For revision changes from customers, manages oversight of revision change process throughout company systems, including engineering responsibilities of updating internal prints, updating process routers, as appropriate

Establishes or adjusts work processes and equipment to meet production schedules by using knowledge of departments, Company procedures, customer requirements, and equipment.

Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, quality of product, suggests changes in working conditions, and use of equipment to increase efficiency of a department or a work cell.

Interprets company policies and safety regulations to help make improvements in the process, layout, tooling, or any other means necessary to ensure a safe and productive work environment.

Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems, including Quality defects originating from the Production Floor. Maintains engineering records as required.

Attends production and Leadership Team meetings, as well as corporate communication meetings and Company training sessions.

Follows all company policies. Follows all safety protocols, helps others follow all safety protocols and alerts upper management to any safety risks that are discovered.

Focuses on continuous improvement in all projects and in every initiative undertaken by the Manufacturing Engineering Dept.

Training and Experience: B.S. in Engineering preferred, Relevant machining experience in manufacturing is a plus but not required. Understanding of cutting tools, speeds and feeds, and physics of material removal required.

Computer Skills: Ability to enter and retrieve data from computer using company ERP system, Microsoft Office, and CAD software such as SolidWorks, etc. Prior use of CAM software is beneficial.

Ability to interpret and understand instructions in written, oral, diagram, charts, graphs, or schedule form, safety rules, drawings, set up sheets, process sheets and other documents. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.

  • Visual Acuity: Ability to read or otherwise obtain information from blueprints, computer screens, and precision measuring instruments.

Ability to communicate effectively with customers, workers, and management in both written and oral form.
