Position Summary

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Summer Intern to join our Manufacturing Engineering team in the Operations Department. As an engineering intern in the Manufacturing Engineering department, you will support projects that are critical to the development, manufacturability and quality of Recor’s technology. You will build practical engineering skills while directly impacting our efficiency and product quality. This role involves hands-on exposure to medical device manufacturing, working closely with the production team and cross-functional engineering groups. This position offers an opportunity to gain real-world experience in a regulated medical device environment while making meaningful contributions that improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities And Duties

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering) to support process changes and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Design or modify fixtures and order parts
  • Develop, characterize and optimize process parameters using statistical techniques
  • Write test protocols, execute studies and document results in test reports
  • Perform Test Method Validations, Gage R&Rs, and other manufacturing studies, as needed
  • Capture document changes through DCO (Document Change Order) process in a Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate part of a project or a total project with a final project presentation

Requirements

  • Undergraduate full-time student with at least 2 years completed, pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering or similar.
  • Comfortable working in a cleanroom environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to operate independently and in a team.
  • Self-motivated, action oriented and result oriented.
  • Familiarity with the following a plus:
  • FDA Regulations
  • CAD (SolidWorks)
  • Statistics and Statistical software (R, Minitab, JMP)
  • Interns are expected to work onsite at the Palo Alto office five days a week throughout the 12‑week internship period.

Salary range: $20/Hr- $25/ Hr

The successful candidate's starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location and market conditions. The expected base pay range for this role may be modified based on market conditions.

This program is designed to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and to maintain radiation exposure at levels that are As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA). Additional guidance and protective equipment, as necessary, will be provided as part of onboarding and ongoing safety training.
