THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Manufacturing Engineer owns and drives process development, quality control, and continuous improvement across the production floor while serving as the technical bridge between management, customers, and suppliers.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
· Established experience in manufacturing processes
· Conduct and monitor process trials and optimize process parameters
· Develop standard work, visual aids, and key process control checkpoints for production operations
· Keep all necessary product documentation (FMEA, process flow charts, work instructions) current and accessible
· Initiate and manage process change notifications (PCNs)
· Perform capability studies (Cp/Cpk) on critical and high-risk characteristics
· Conduct MSA/Gage R&R for dimensional and visual inspection methods
· Set up containment, first-off/last-off checks, and start-up validation
· Monitor scrap, PPM, and process drift using SPC
· Ensure incoming materials meet production specifications
· Define and develop requirements for assembly and checking fixtures
· Troubleshoot process defects and non-conformances
· Coordinate equipment installation, relocation, and operator training
· Investigate and justify new equipment acquisitions through capital project preparation
· Maintain and update plant layout documentation
· Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities in a lean manufacturing environment
· Conduct time studies, line balancing, and manpower efficiency studies
· Support OEE improvements and scrap reduction initiatives
· Maintain and update PFMEA using lessons learned
· Provide quote direction for new business related to tooling, materials, and processes
· Conduct engineering feasibility studies for cost savings opportunities
· Act as technical contact between management, customers, and vendors
· Work with suppliers to resolve process deviations
· Review part designs and provide feasibility input for ease of manufacturing and cost reduction
· Train operators and technicians on equipment setup, process parameters, and defect recognition
· Provide complete handover documentation including validated parameters, control plans, and job instructions
· Support production ramp-up until process meets takt time, OEE, and PPM targets
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
Minimum Qualifications:
· 5 years Tier 1 automotive environment related project or program management experience .
· Proven knowledge of core quality and manufacturing tools including PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Charts, SPC, Cp/Cpk capability studies, and MSA/Gage R&R within an IATF 16949 compliant environment
· Undergraduate degree as a minimum in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related.
· Experience with standard MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project) and 3D CAD data review (CATIA, Solidworks, NX, or similar).
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present confidently to customers and senior management
