We are seeking a hands-on, Manufacturing Process Engineer to support and improve our plastics extrusion operations while contributing to R&D and custom heat exchanger projects. This role is ideal for a mechanical or chemical engineer with 2–3 years of experience who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is eager to learn, troubleshoot, and implement practical improvements on the floor. This position will focus on quality control, process optimization, and applied R&D, with significant interaction with production teams.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control & Process Improvements (30%)

  • Evaluate and recommend new QC equipment and measurement technologies
  • Develop, document, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Train operators and staff on quality standards and inspection protocols
  • Review and approve inspection reports to ensure compliance
  • Maintain and calibrate QC equipment (pins, plugs, calipers, micrometers, Keyence systems)

Manufacturing & Process Optimization (30%)

  • Work directly with operators to troubleshoot and improve extrusion processes
  • Diagnose, repair, and optimize extrusion line components, including:
  • Calibrators
  • Vacuum tank components
  • In-line measurement systems
  • Identify opportunities to improve throughput, reduce scrap, and increase consistency

Heat Exchanger Design & Manufacturing (30%)

  • Review customer inquiries and translate requirements into practical technical designs
  • Support quoting by developing preliminary engineering concepts
  • Generate and issue Manufacturing Orders (MOs) for production
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure successful execution

Applied R&D (10%)

  • Conduct R&D on new and existing resins for extrusion applications
  • Explore and implement new technologies (including AI and advanced tools) to improve quality and efficiency
  • Support medical and specialty product development projects as needed
  • Ensure new processes are documented and standardized via SOPs

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in plastics extrusion (strongly preferred)
  • Working knowledge of quality control processes and measurement tools
  • Hands-on problem-solving ability in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with operators, production, and management

Preferred

  • Experience with process improvement / lean manufacturing
  • Familiarity with resin behavior and extrusion parameters
  • Exposure to custom manufacturing or engineered products
  • Experience designing or supporting industrial equipment or systems
