Job Summary
The Associate Engineer will support engineering, programming, and manufacturing operations with a strong focus on CNC programming, quoting support, and process improvement. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with machining experience who is looking to grow into a programming or manufacturing engineering position.
The role works closely with production, quality, and management to ensure programs, setup documentation, and manufacturing processes are accurate, efficient, and aligned with customer requirements.
Programming & Manufacturing Support
· Create, modify, and maintain CNC programs (Mill/Lathe/Router) based on customer drawings and specifications
· Develop and maintain accurate setup sheets for repeatable and efficient production
· Verify and optimize programs to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and quality compliance
· Troubleshoot programming and machining issues on the shop floor in collaboration with machinists
· Support continuous improvement efforts related to cycle time, tooling, and process efficiency
Quoting & Engineering Support
· Support the quoting process by reviewing drawings and estimating machining requirements
· Assist in determining cycle times, tooling needs, and manufacturing methods
· Review customer drawings, specifications, and revision changes to ensure manufacturability
· Assist in creating routings, BOMs, and job structures within ERP systems (JobBoss or equivalent)
Documentation & Process Control
· Maintain organized records of CNC programs, revisions, and setup documentation
· Ensure all programs and documentation are saved and controlled per company standards
· Create and update shop documentation, including setup instructions and process notes
· Ensure alignment with customer requirements and internal quality standards
Cross-Functional Support
· Work closely with production, quality, and purchasing teams to support manufacturing needs
· Assist in resolving technical issues impacting delivery, quality, or efficiency
· Communicate effectively with team members regarding program updates and process changes
Qualifications
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field (or equivalent experience)
· 2+ years of experience in CNC machining, setup, or programming preferred
· Working knowledge of CNC programming and CAM software (Mastercam or similar)
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
· Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and setups
· Familiarity with ERP systems (JobBoss or similar) is a plus
· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
