POSITION: Manufacturing / Supplier Quality Engineer

LOCATION: Scottsdale, AZ 85255 (Onsite, Monday – Friday)

PAY RANGE: $45.00 - $52.00 per hour W2 (40 hours/week)

DURATION: 6-Month Contract-To-Hire

SUMMARY

A leading high growth technology and manufacturing organization in Scottsdale, Arizona, is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to support supplier quality performance across New Product Introduction (NPI) and production programs. This role partners closely with Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to ensure suppliers meet quality standards, inspection requirements, and contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Audit supplier manufacturing and inspection processes, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with established quality and performance requirements.
  • Support supplier selection and evaluation activities, including onsite supplier audits, to assess quality systems and process capability.
  • Ensure proper flow‑down of Supplier Quality Clauses across the supply base.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by ensuring inspection plans and quality criteria align with Program Management, Design, Quality, and Supply Chain requirements.
  • Review supplier First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and monitor process FMEAs (PFMEA) and production control plans (PCP); recommend improvements as needed.
  • Assess supplier inspection capabilities (IQC, IPQC, OQC) and assist in developing inspection plans; evaluate capability studies such as Cpk, Ppk, and Gage R&R.
  • Review supplier engineering drawings, specifications, special processes, and related purchasing requirements; coordinate approvals with Design, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
  • Measure, track, and report supplier quality performance; support resolution of non‑conforming materials, processes, and system anomalies.
  • Issue and manage Corrective Action Requests (CARs) and Non‑Conformance Material Reports (NCMRs) through closure.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Quality to develop remediation plans for underperforming suppliers based on defect rates, PPMs, and non‑conformance trends.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience in a Supplier Quality role or similar capacity.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with PPAPs and FAIRs.
  • Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) such as ISO 9001, AS9100, TS16949, or comparable standards.
  • Solid understanding of incoming, in‑process, and outgoing inspection methods, including statistical sampling, measurement techniques, engineering drawings, and specifications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Six Sigma certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Compensation:

$45.00 - $52.00 per hour

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
