Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Market Risk Analyst (Systems & Data Focus) to join the Capital Markets Risk Management team within our client. This contract or contract-to-hire position offers an exciting opportunity to work on critical risk system enhancements, data analysis, and project delivery in a dynamic, collaborative environment. The role provides valuable exposure to market risk environments, with potential for full-time conversion after initial engagement.

Pay rate range (CAD): $65.22/hr – $78.26/hr

Responsibilities

• Assist in development and enhancement of market risk measurement systems, regulatory capital calculations, and risk reporting frameworks
• Query and analyze large datasets using SQL; investigate discrepancies and support reconciliation processes
• Execute testing for new products, system enhancements, and risk calculation accuracy
• Gather and document business requirements related to market risk workflows; support solution design and deployment
• Collaborate with risk, technology, and front office teams to ensure successful project execution
• Support the ongoing evolution of risk systems, including stress testing, automation, and data infrastructure modernization

Desired Skill-Set

• STEM background preferred, with hands-on experience in SQL (query writing) and exposure to Python or similar tools
• Comfortable working with large datasets and complex data analysis
• Some understanding of market risk concepts and capital markets products
• Strong analytical thinking, issue investigation, and data interpretation skills
• Effective communicator able to explain technical findings to diverse stakeholders

Nice to Have

• Exposure to risk system validation and regulatory capital calculations (such as CVA)
• Experience with risk system testing and project support in a financial services environment
• Knowledge of automation, AI, Databricks, or related data infrastructure tools
• Prior experience in a fast-paced, project-based setting with a collaborative team culture
