Overview
Our client is a global hedge fund trading across liquid asset classes, with a strong focus on systematic and data‑driven strategies. The Risk function partners closely with Portfolio Managers, Trading, and Operations to ensure risk is clearly understood, actively monitored, and embedded into daily decision making.
This role sits within the APAC Risk team in Hong Kong and supports the day‑to‑day market risk function across the region. The position offers direct exposure to Portfolio Managers and senior risk stakeholders in a fast‑paced investment environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support senior risk managers with daily P&L attribution, risk profile monitoring, and market colour discussions with Portfolio Managers
- Monitor trading limits across APAC strategies, including tracking utilisation, investigating breaches, and supporting escalation where required
- Produce and maintain daily and periodic risk reporting, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery
- Respond to ad‑hoc risk requests from front office, COO, and senior management in a structured and timely manner
- Perform detailed margin and financing analysis, identifying discrepancies, monitoring utilisation, and flagging unusual movements
- Automate and enhance risk processes using Python, including reporting pipelines, dashboards, P&L attribution tools, and data workflows
Requirements
- Approximately 3 to 6 years of experience in market risk within financial markets, ideally including buy‑side exposure
- Strong understanding of market risk concepts, including exposures, limits, stress, and day‑to‑day risk dynamics in trading environments
- Proficiency in Python and SQL, with hands‑on experience improving reporting or analytics through automation
- Strong academic background in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, or computer science
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain risk and P&L drivers to technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail, ownership mindset, and ability to operate calmly in a fast‑moving environment
