About the role:
As part of its ongoing commercial strategy, our client has established a trading division. The role of the trading division is to enhance the commercial abilities in an agile structure that will capture additional value from optionality for physical assets and contract portfolio with effective management of market risks.
- Maximize the value of physical flows by placing our products optimally.
- Optimize the portfolio and capture additional margin from the value chain.
- Work with assets to determine optimal products and volume to produce, sell and deliver.
- Own and deliver daily and monthly P&L reporting for marine activities, including freight exposure, FFAs, and bunker-related risks.
- Perform variance and driver analysis, clearly articulating market, structural, and positioning impacts to stakeholders.
- Lead monthly Marine risk reviews with senior stakeholders, highlighting key outcomes, risks, emerging themes, and areas of focus.
- Ensure consistency and alignment of mark‑to‑market views across Market Risk, Front Office, and Finance.
- Monitor risk limit utilisation, assessing sustainability under prevailing market conditions, identifying breaches or emerging pressures, and escalating appropriately with clear narrative and recommendations.
About you:
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- At least 8 years relevant experience in a market risk management environment with strong technical skills, product control, financial control, or commodities finance background.
- Strong understanding of shipping/marine economics, including freight (voyage & time charter) and bunker costs.
- Good communication skills, ability to articulate technical concepts for general audience and drive discussions.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
