Job Description
- Own and deliver daily and monthly P&L reporting for marine activities, including freight exposure, FFAs, and bunker‑related risks
- Perform variance and driver analysis, clearly articulating market, structural, and positioning impacts to stakeholders
- Lead monthly Marine risk reviews with senior stakeholders, highlighting key outcomes, risks, emerging themes, and areas of focus
- Ensure consistency and alignment of mark‑to‑market views across Market Risk, Front Office, and Finance
- Monitor risk limit utilisation, assessing sustainability under prevailing market conditions, identifying breaches or emerging pressures, and escalating appropriately with clear narrative and recommendations
Valuation & Accounting Oversight
- Oversee mark‑to‑market valuation of freight derivatives (FFAs) and physical time charter/voyage charter exposures
- Validate pricing inputs, forward curves, and valuation methodologies, ensuring robustness and consistency
- Partner closely with Chartering, Trading, and Operations teams to understand commercial activity and validate risk outcomes
- Act as a key interface between Front Office and Finance, providing independent review and constructive challenge
- Support senior management with clear, concise risk and financial insights to aid decision‑making
- Respond to ad‑hoc senior management requests, providing timely analysis and sound judgement
Governance, Controls & Process Improvement
- Ensure adherence to risk governance frameworks, policies, and controls for marine activities
- Drive targeted automation and process improvements in reporting and reconciliation where opportunities exist
- Provide oversight and guidance to the team to ensure consistent application of controls and risk standards
