Job Description

About Our Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer who enjoys owning projects from concept through production. This role focuses on designing and customizing pressure-containing equipment and mechanical systems engineered for a variety of applications. Designs must meet customer specific and industry requirements.

You'll work on both modifications to existing products and new product development, collaborating cross-functionally with manufacturing, sales, and quality. This is a hands-on design role where your work directly impacts real, built products-not just theoretical designs.

If you enjoy solving practical engineering problems, working with CAD daily, and seeing your designs come to life on the shop floor, this role will be a strong fit.

Responsibilities

  • Design and modify pressure-containing equipment and mechanical assemblies using SolidWorks
  • Interpret customer specifications, datasheets, and industry requirements to develop compliant design solutions
  • Perform engineering calculations (pressure design, stress, tolerance, material selection)
  • Ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, PED, IECEx, CRN)
  • Create and release detailed drawings, models, routers, and bills of materials (BOMs)
  • Support product testing, certification, and documentation requirements
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure design for manufacturability and efficient production
  • Troubleshoot design-related issues and drive continuous improvement of existing products

These are some of the more frequent tasks you could expect to perform during your workday, but you may be called upon to fulfill other duties as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience designing equipment used in oil and gas, energy, or industrial applications
  • Working knowledge of pressure vessel or pressure containing component design
  • Familiarity with ASME and other industrial standards
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
  • Ability to perform and validate engineering calculations
  • Understanding of machining, fabrication, and assembly processes
  • Strong attention to detail and ownership mindset

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university required
  • 3+ years of mechanical design experience in oil and gas or related industry preferred
  • Experience with valves, regulators, instrumentation, pressure control equipment, or electrical components is a strong plus
