This program is building a secure, coast to coast AI compute fabric that will accelerate innovation, strengthen national technological independence, and power the next generation of AI driven services. In this role, you will design and shape the mechanical systems that form the backbone of advanced data centres supporting massive GPU clusters, mission critical AI workloads, and some of the most demanding thermal environments in the country. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to a high impact national mission while applying deep mechanical engineering expertise to systems that will define the future of Canadian AI capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, review, and optimization of mechanical systems for new data centre builds, expansions, and retrofits.
  • Develop detailed mechanical design packages, including HVAC layouts, airflow models, cooling system sizing, and chilled water/air cooled system designs.
  • Evaluate and plan mechanical infrastructure including CRAC/CRAH units, liquid cooling systems, chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, pumps, and high density cooling solutions for GPU intensive workloads.
  • Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, construction teams, operational staff, and external suppliers to ensure systems meet performance, reliability, and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct site assessments, capacity planning, thermal modeling, and risk evaluations to validate mechanical readiness for high density AI workloads.Provide technical oversight on procurement specifications for mechanical equipment and validate vendor solutions against engineering and operational requirements.
