Job Description

Job Description:

Join us at Lockheed Martin as we innovate and lead in the field of Strategic Weapon Systems. Our dedicated team is on a mission to overcome some of the most challenging engineering problems in the world. If you are driven to make a positive impact and transform dreams into reality, we want you to be part of our journey to build a safer tomorrow.

What Will You Do?

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer - Structural Loads and Dynamics to support the vital analysis, development, and verification processes of complex aerospace and defense systems. In this role, you will primarily focus on developing structural loads, conducting dynamic analyses, and assessing structural integrity throughout the product lifecycle, from initial concept to test and operational phases.

You will thrive in a collaborative environment, working alongside diverse teams on missile, space, or launch vehicle programs. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Developing and analyzing static and dynamic load cases for both flight and ground systems.
  • Performing structural dynamics analyses, including modal, transient, shock, vibration, and coupled loads analyses.
  • Creating and correlating finite element models to experimental test data.
  • Support structural qualification and acceptance testing such as vibration, acoustic, shock, and modal surveys.
  • Executing rigid and flexible body dynamic simulations.
  • Evaluating structural margins and documenting results in formal technical reports.
  • Collaborating effectively with design, stress, systems, manufacturing, and test engineering teams.
  • Participating in design reviews, technical meetings, and customer presentations.

Important Notes:

Candidates will undergo a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience in performing structural loads and/or dynamics analysis.
  • Proficiency with finite element modeling and analysis tools (e.g., NX/Nastran, Abaqus, ANSYS, or similar).
  • Experience interpreting dynamic environments including vibration, shock, acoustic, or transient loading.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
