Iwa Robotics builds advanced autonomous systems. We're hiring a Mechanical Systems Engineer to lead the design and integration of propulsion subsystems for our platforms.
What You'll Do
Design and integrate complete propulsion subsystems from primary power source through mechanical output
Own mechanical packaging, mounting, and structural integration of powertrain components
Design supporting subsystems including fuel handling, thermal management, and vibration isolation
Develop test plans and run bench validation, endurance testing, and characterization campaigns
Partner with electrical and controls engineers on cross-domain subsystem behavior
Drive component selection, vendor engagement, and design-for-manufacture decisions
Support system bring-up, integration debugging, and field validation
What We're Looking For
B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field
2+ years designing and integrating propulsion or powertrain subsystems in a hardware product environment
Hands-on experience with internal combustion engines and/or electric powertrains
Strong mechanical design fundamentals — CAD, GD&T, structural analysis, vibration
Experience running test campaigns with real instrumentation and interpreting the data
Comfort in a fast-moving hardware startup — you'll own outcomes end-to-end, not hand off drawings
Track record of shipping hardware to production or sustained field use
Bonus
Experience across multiple powertrain architectures (ICE, electric, hybrid)
CFD or FEA experience for thermal and structural work
Background bringing new powertrain designs from concept through field validation
Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident)
