Position Overview
Join Autodesk as a Media Production Systems Engineer and play a vital role in shaping the technology landscape that drives live and video production, as well as media collaboration across our organization. This key position allows you to architect and enhance the systems and workflows that fuel Autodesk's media production efforts.
As a Media Production Systems Engineer, you will collaborate with an array of stakeholders, including producers, engineers, and IT teams, to create seamless, scalable, and secure systems tailored for live events, recorded content, and corporate communications. Your expertise will support our continuing expansion in using video and live production for internal and external communications, evolving the technology that underpins these initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the technology framework supporting Autodesk's media production capabilities, focusing on live production, video creation, and effective conference room collaboration.
- Design scalable systems and infrastructure to enhance workflows across content creation, live broadcasting, and media asset distribution.
- Lead the enhancement of Autodesk's media production pipeline, facilitating key processes such as ingest, routing, storage, asset management, and archiving.
- Work collaboratively with producers, engineers, and IT teams to transform business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Take ownership of major media production platforms, such as Panopto, Iconik, Flix, LucidLink, AWS, and HiScale.
- Evaluate and refine workflows to optimize efficiency in live production, video production, and conference room technology.
- Design and maintain the broadcast and AV infrastructure, including systems for signal routing, production switching, monitoring, and control.
- Manage and optimize shared media storage systems, ensuring efficient operation of NAS and hybrid cloud workflows.
- Monitor streaming infrastructure and establish methods to capture system health and performance metrics.
- Document architecture, configurations, workflows, and operational processes clearly.
- Collaborate with network and IT teams to ensure robust connectivity and security for all production environments.
- Serve as the Engineer in Charge during high-stakes live broadcasts as needed.
- Provide technical guidance for complex production and infrastructure challenges.
- Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency through workflow automation and tracking systems. Familiarity with Airtable or similar tools is a plus.
- Continuously assess emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to bolster Autodesk’s media production capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in broadcast engineering, media systems engineering, AV systems engineering, or related production technology environments.
- Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and supporting complex media systems and production infrastructure.
- Comprehensive understanding of live production and video production technologies.
- Experience managing media production platforms such as Panopto, Iconik, Flix, LucidLink, AWS, and similar systems.
- Strong background in managing shared media storage systems, including NAS and cloud-connected workflows.
- Solid knowledge of broadcast and AV fundamentals, including routing, switching, signal flow, and streaming technologies.
- Adept in evaluating workflows and developing scalable systems to enhance operational efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical systems and processes clearly.

- Experience in hybrid cloud or distributed production settings.

Salary Information
The expected starting base salary range for this role is between $109,400 and $176,880. Compensation packages may vary based on experience and geographic location, and can include additional incentives such as bonuses and stock grants.
