- Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical layouts and assemblies for MV switchgear and related systems
- Create and maintain detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor (or similar) and AutoCAD
- Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical engineering and production teams to ensure seamless integration
- Provide hands-on factory floor support to troubleshoot and resolve design or assembly challenges
- Contribute to R&D initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and manufacturing requirements
- Manage project timelines, deliverables, and documentation with a high level of ownership
- Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 2+ years of MV switchgear design experience (required)
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar 3D CAD tools
- Strong AutoCAD 2D drafting experience
- Familiarity with PDM systems and ERP-integrated design environments
- Solid understanding of MV switchgear construction and design principles
- Working knowledge of IEEE C37 standards and MV UL requirements
- Experience with metal-clad and/or metal-enclosed switchgear design, including:
- Busbar systems, breaker compartments, and cable sections
- Insulation clearances, dielectric spacing, and creepage distances (up to 38kV)
- Structural design for short-circuit withstand and safety considerations
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills with a proactive, ownership-driven mindset
