Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE

The Mineral Processing Engineer is multi-site deployed technical leader responsible for improving plant performance across all GMA USA operations.

Working closely with the VP of Operations, this role focusses on identifying and resolving the highest-value processing constraints across multiple sites. This includes diagnosing plant issues, defining improvement strategies, and leading implementation to deliver measurable gains in recovery, throughput and product quality.

The role works closely with Plant Managers and Plant Supervisors to provide hands-on technical support, develop practical operating solutions and build capacity within site teams through coaching, training and the development of standard operating procedures or practices.

A strong boots-on-the-ground approach is required, with the ability to engage directly with plant teams, gain alignment, and ensure improvements are effectively implemented and sustained.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES |

  • Act as the technical lead for plant performance across all GMA USA operations, working in alignment with the VP of Operations to prioritize and address the highest-value improvement opportunities.
  • Provide hands-on, site-based troubleshooting and optimisation of mineral processing circuits, including,
  • Comminution (e.g. HPGR)
  • Dense Media Separation
  • Gravity Separation (Spirals and Hydrosizers)
  • Screening and classification processes (dry and wet)
  • Thickening, water recovery and tails systems
  • Magnetic separation (dry and wet)

· Efficiently assess plant performance and operating constraints by,

o Analyzing data and trends,

o Conducting plant audits and surveys,

o Identifying bottlenecks, losses and inefficiencies.

· Establish, maintain and improve metallurgical accounting systems, ensuring accurate reconciliation of,

o Feed, product and tailings streams,

o Recovery, grade and losses across circuits.

· Lead and execute structured test work programs and plant trials to validate improvement initiatives and optimise process performance.

· Support the scoping, justification and implementation of improvement initiatives, including

o Process changes and circuit modifications,

o Equipment upgrades and replacements,

o Operational and control strategies.

· Contribute to end-to-end implementation activities, including,

o Concept development and technical definition

o cost estimation and business case input,

o execution planning and site coordination

o commissioning support, ramp-up and performance validation.

· Work closely with Plant Managers and Plant Supervisors to,

o Provide technical support during plant upsets and performance issues,

o Develop and refine operating procedures

o Deliver training and coaching to build site capability

o Ensure sustainable adoption of improvements.

· Standardize and uplift processing practices, reporting frameworks and operating discipline across all sites.

· Develop or refine and track key plant performance metrics including recovery, throughput, product quality and cost, and ensure data-driven decision making.

· Identify and deliver measurable value improvements with clear accountability for outcomes in,

o Recovery and yield,

o Product quality and consistency,

o Plant throughput and utilization,

o Operating cost efficiency.

· Support decisions on capital equipment and process design, working directly with the VP of Operations and Global Technical Services team.

· Ensure all activities are conducted in line with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements embedding safe work practices within all improvement initiatives and operational activities.
