About MoldPredict

MoldPredict is an advanced predictive analytics AI platform designed to estimate Remaining Useful Life (RUL), mold tool overhaul timing, and refurbish cost of injection molds. By combining operational data with machine learning, MoldPredict prepares mold risk curve helping maintenance planning, and cost estimate to formalize refurbishment strategy.

As we scale globally, we are building a team of field-based Oversight Tooling Engineers who bridge data science with real-world tooling performance

Position Summary

The MoldPredict Oversight Tooling Engineer serves as the technical field authority validating and contextualizing MoldPredict model outputs.

This role requires visiting molding facilities, physically inspecting molds, and comparing predicted RUL and failure risk against actual tooling condition. The engineer will derive practical conclusions based on observed wear patterns, shop capabilities, and refurbishment feasibility.

You will act as the critical link between predictive analytics and real-world tooling decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Model Validation & Field Assessment

  • Visit injection molding facilities to inspect tools in operation.
  • Evaluate mold condition relative to MoldPredict RUL estimates.
  • Assess wear mechanisms (abrasive wear, fatigue cracking, gate erosion, parting line deformation).
  • Provide structured feedback to improve model accuracy.

Overhaul Strategy Development

  • Determine whether refurbishment should occur On-site / At regional tool shops / At original mold builder
  • Assess cost-effectiveness of repair vs. component replacement.
  • Validate cost engine outputs based on local shop rates and capabilities.

Capability Evaluation

Assess molding site capabilities for the following onsite/ vendor support:

  • CNC / EDM availability
  • Welding & heat treatment capacity
  • Surface treatment & coating access
  • Skilled maintenance staff

Recommend refurbishment routing strategy.

Reporting & Technical Advisory

  • Deliver structured inspection reports aligned with MoldPredict outputs.
  • Translate predictive data into actionable shop-floor recommendations.
  • Prepare RFQ documentation and coordinate a minimum of three quotes from tool shops approved for refurbishing

Model Training & Feedback Loop

  • Provide annotated case data to data-science team.
  • Participate in structured training on MoldPredict hazard and cost models.
  • Help refine wear multipliers and cost coefficients with real-world feedback.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 8+ years hands-on experience in:

  • Injection mold design / maintenance or overhaul
  • Toolroom operations
  • High-cavity production tooling

Deep understanding of:

  • Mold wear mechanisms
  • Steel grades & surface treatments
  • Glass-filled & abrasive material processing

Experience with regional suppliers and refurbishment vendors preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience validating predictive models, DFM methodology, Moldflow, Mold 3D CAD design
  • Background in tooling management for Tier 1 or multinational manufacturers.
  • Exposure to data-driven manufacturing systems (MES, mold monitoring).
  • Fluency in English and regional language required, multilingual capability is a plus.

Negotiated based on contract award in the region, performance-based incentives tied to model validation accuracy and client impact.
