Position Summary
This role will serve as the primary technical expert responsible for reverse-engineering and documenting data lineage across a Murex MX.3 Datamart environment. You will play a critical role in mapping how data flows from Murex through downstream systems, translating complex transformation logic into clear, structured documentation for cross-functional stakeholders.
This position partners closely with teams across Front Office, Risk, and Operations to ensure transparency, accuracy, and consistency in data lineage and governance practices. The work is highly hands-on and requires deep technical expertise within Murex configuration and Datamart structures.
Key Responsibilities
Data Lineage & Mapping
- Analyze Murex Datamart configuration files and reverse-engineer transformation logic to document end-to-end data lineage
- Create detailed field-level mappings, including derivations, calculated fields, and data transformations across systems
- Map production Datamart tables and fields, reconciling against system catalogs and identifying any gaps
Technical Analysis & Documentation
- Interpret Sybase stored procedures, views, and SQL extraction scripts to understand data movement and transformation logic
- Identify complex or dynamic logic requiring escalation and track findings through structured issue logs
- Translate technical findings into clear, standardized documentation aligned with data governance practices
Data Governance & Standards
- Define and document Critical Data Elements aligned to industry standards across derivatives product types
- Track and document transformations such as FX conversions, aggregations, and netting logic throughout the data lifecycle
- Load and maintain lineage documentation within internal data catalog platforms
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with IT, Front Office, Risk, and Operations teams to validate data lineage and resolve discrepancies
- Participate in working sessions and validation workshops with downstream data consumers
- Provide ongoing updates on progress, risks, and open items throughout the engagement
