We are developing a robotics and automation concept for a NASA SBIR Phase I proposal focused on in-space logistics and autonomous cargo handling for commercial space stations.
We are seeking an experienced Robotics & Autonomy Engineer to support early-stage system definition, feasibility validation, and prototype planning.
Scope includes:
Contribute to system architecture for a robotic manipulation system (fixed-base robotic arm)
Support motion planning and control approaches for constrained pick-and-place tasks
Provide input on semi-autonomous operation strategies with a path toward full autonomy
Assist in defining a simple ground-based prototype using COTS components
Provide technical input for proposal submission and potential Phase I execution
Required skills:
-Robotics / manipulation systems (industrial or research)
-ROS or equivalent robotics frameworks
-Motion planning and control
-Basic perception / computer vision (object detection or tracking)
Engagement:
-Short-term, part-time (proposal phase support)
-Paid contract upon award (Phase I – 6 months)
-Flexible, async-first collaboration with regular check-ins
