Department Overview

The Supply Chain New Product Introduction team oversees the launch of new products across global manufacturing sites and distribution centers, focusing on Communication Infrastructure products. We collaborate closely with product development engineering and manufacturing partners to follow the MSI Product Lifecycle Launch Process, ensuring efficient process capabilities.

Job Description

The New Product Introduction (NPI) Process Engineer plays a pivotal role in managing all aspects of in-house or outsourced manufacturing for a product or product line throughout the new product introduction phases. Responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the central resource alongside design, manufacturing, quality, and testing teams as products transition from initiation to shipping.
  • Utilizing Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) techniques to facilitate the manufacturability of PCBAs and assemblies, with a focus on generating reports that improve manufacturability and reduce process variations.
  • Ensuring that shipped products meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Creating production requirements and specifications for manufacturing tools and assembly procedures in collaboration with development teams and product engineers.
  • Working with fixturing vendors to develop and implement tools, fixtures, and jigs for device and PCB assembly.
  • Driving new process development and implementation for device and PCBA, collaborating with Development Engineering and Manufacturing teams on continuous improvements to enhance overall manufacturing process, yield, and throughput.
  • Serving as the liaison between Design Engineering and Manufacturing for new product launch efforts.
  • Applying knowledge of component engineering, including part specifications, validation through sample procurement, and verification.
  • Monitoring product yields daily and collaborating with relevant engineers to implement corrective actions for identified trends in equipment or process issues.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously within a matrix organization.
  • A strong desire to work in a fast-paced environment with diverse products and fulfillment models.
  • Excellent communication skills for summarizing project status, technical risks, and team recommendations to work partners and senior leaders.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Flexibility in work hours and a willingness to travel up to 25%.

Salary Information

Target Base Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000. Pay within this range varies based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Actual offers will be tailored to individual candidates.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing).
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in a mid to high-volume manufacturing environment, covering both device and SMT assembly.

Travel Requirements: Under 10%
