Job Overview

Alternative Investments at LPL is a rapidly growing, fast-paced team at the forefront of the firm’s initiatives. The tight-knit team manages the firm’s platform, including product, marketing and distribution, education and training, and product onboarding. We are an innovative group working to deliver a world-class platform for LPL’s advisors and their clients.

As part of the alternative investments team within Wealth Management (WM), the primary responsibility of this role will be to support the implementation of the firm’s strategy for alternative investments. The role will involve collaboration with multiple internal groups and require strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work within tight deadlines. The Senior Analyst will contribute to the WM group’s goal of delivering a world-class alternative investments platform. This role also maintains strong relationships with LPL’s investment manager partner firms to collaboratively deliver the necessary tools, resources, and communications that help LPL Financial advisors remain competitive.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct operational due diligence reviews on alternative investment sponsors and products across private equity, private credit, real estate, venture capital, hedge funds, and other private market strategies.
  • Assess key operational risk areas including governance, compliance programs, internal controls, valuation practices, service provider oversight, and cash controls.
  • Review organizational structures, financial stability, background checks, and operational infrastructure of sponsors and subadvisors.
  • Analyze fund structures, offering terms, and documentation to evaluate operational soundness and alignment with investor protections.
  • Prepare well‑supported ODD reports and present findings to internal committees and senior leaders.
  • Engage directly with sponsor leadership—including COOs, CFOs, CCOs, and other executives—to discuss operational practices, challenge assumptions, and address identified risks.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (IDD, Legal, Compliance, Trading, Supervision) to support product approval, risk assessments, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Maintain ongoing monitoring of higher‑risk sponsors, tracking operational changes, remediation plans, and emerging risk indicators.
  • Stay current on industry best practices, regulatory developments, and evolving operational risk frameworks in the alternatives space.

What are we looking for?

We seek analytical, detail‑oriented professionals who demonstrate strong judgment and confidence when engaging with senior executives. Ideal candidates communicate clearly, think critically, and thrive in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment. We value those who embrace continuous improvement and contribute to a culture where we win together.

Requirements:

  • 4–7 years of experience in investment management, due diligence, risk, audit, or a related field, including at least 2–3 years supporting alternative investment products.
  • Understanding of alternative investment structures, sponsors, fund vehicles, and key operational risk factors.
  • Experience conducting due diligence, operational assessments, or similar analytical work.

Core Competencies:

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to professionally interact with executive‑level stakeholders and present complex findings with clarity and confidence.
  • Strong writing, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Organizational strength and the ability to manage multiple reviews and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated high performance with the ability to independently drive reviews to completion.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and articulate key risks.
  • Confident and poised when conducting due diligence discussions with senior executives (e.g., COO, CFO, CCO, General Counsel).
  • Clear, concise communication skills with the ability to distill complex operational issues into actionable recommendations.
  • Sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to challenge incomplete explanations.
  • Ability to reprioritize and adapt in a changing environment.
  • Unimpeachable ethical standards and relationship‑building skills.

Preferences:

  • CFA, CAIA, FRM, or progress toward a relevant professional designation.
