BUSINESS UNIT

Ziegler Capital Markets (ZCM) is a market leading Trader and Underwriter of High Yield (HY) and General Market (GM) municipal bond credits. Our historical focus is on Healthcare, Hospital, Senior Care, Higher Education, Private Education, Charter School, Project Finance, and General Market transactions in the municipal bond market. Our client base are Tier I, II, and III Mutual Funds, ETF’s, SMA’s, Money Managers, Insurance Companies, and Trading Vehicles.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Capital Markets Trading & Operations Analyst role is an entry level role designed for recent graduates interested in building a career in the municipal fixed income markets. This position provides broad exposure across the firm’s Capital Markets Group supporting trade operations, underwriting, secondary trading and sales, algorithmic trading initiatives, and ETF create/redeem activity. The Analyst will work closely with traders, sales, underwriters, and operations professionals to support the execution, placement, and processing of muni bond transactions. This position will be in-person based in our Chicago Headquarters and will report to the Vice President of Operations & Technology.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Trading Support

  • Monitor market activity, including yield curves, credit spreads, and secondary trading activity.
  • Support ETF basket creation/redemption activity tied to muni bond ETF with basket monitoring and trade execution.

Underwriting Support

  • Provide operational support during municipal new issue pricing and order periods.
  • Assist in building and maintaining deal information, pricing wires, and deal updates.
  • Set up and register new issue information with regulators and data providers.
  • Maintain new issue database for reference and regulatory inquiries.

Trade Operations

  • Ensure accurate trade booking, confirmation, and settlement.
  • Monitor and resolve trade discrepancies, failed trades, and settlement issues.
  • Interface with counterparties, clearing firms, and custodians to ensure smooth post-trade processing.
  • Coordinate with internal teams with compliance, accounting, and other requests.

Algo & Data Initiatives Support

  • Support the development and monitoring of algo pricing and trading tools.
  • Assist in aggregating and analyzing market data.
  • Automate workflows related to pricing, reporting, and trade processing.

Professional & Personal qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/365 including advanced excel, pivot tables, modeling, etc.
  • Familiarity with Python, SQL, or data analysis tools a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • FINRA licensing including SIE, Series 7, 52, 63 a plus but not required. Licensing may be required depending on the trajectory of the position sometime after hire.

BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION

The applicable base salary range for this role is $70,000 to $90,000. The base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, and education. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for a performance-based bonus.
