Downtown United Soccer Club (DUSC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1982, serving as the most comprehensive soccer club in NYC. We serve approximately 5,000 participants annually across Downtown Manhattan and the greater NYC area through diverse programming including competitive academy teams, recreation leagues, camps, and classes for all ages and abilities.
Position Summary
Title: Part-Time Interim Data Analyst (Finance & Operations)
Type: Interim/Temporary, Part-Time
Department: Finance & Operations
Reports To: Directors of Finance/Operations
Location: Downtown Manhattan (Hybrid options available)
Duration: 3-6 months (with potential for extension)
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience
Part-Time Interim Data Analyst Position Overview
DUSC seeks a detail-oriented, analytically-minded Data Analyst to support our finance and operations teams on an interim basis. This role will provide critical analytical support to help optimize our operations, improve financial reporting, and support data-driven decision-making as we serve our growing community of 5,000+ participants.
Key Responsibilities (Project based with potential projects in areas below)
Financial Analysis
- Analyze registration data, revenue streams, and program profitability across multiple offerings (Academy, Recreation League, Camps, Classes, etc.)
- Support budget preparation and variance analysis
- Create financial dashboards and reports for leadership review
- Identify trends in membership, retention, and revenue generation
Operations Analysis
- Analyze participant enrollment patterns and program capacity utilization
- Support operational efficiency initiatives through data analysis
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for various programs
- Analyze facility usage and scheduling optimization opportunities
- Provide insights on participant demographics and program reach
Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain data integrity across systems
- Develop standardized reporting templates
- Document analytical processes and methodologies
- Support ad-hoc analytical requests from leadership
Part-Time Interim Data Analyst Required Qualifications
Experience & Education
- Professional experience in data analysis, financial analysis, or related analytical role
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Analytics, Economics, Statistics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience working with nonprofit organizations or youth sports programs is a plus
Technical Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, data visualization)
- Strong numerical and quantitative analysis skills
- Experience with data visualization and dashboard creation
- Comfortable learning new software systems and tools quickly
Soft Skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently
- Collaborative team player
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with registration/CRM systems (e.g., PlayMetrics)
- Knowledge of QuickBooks or other accounting software
- Understanding of nonprofit financial reporting requirements
- Passion for youth sports and community development
