As a Petroleum Engineer, you will report to the Head of Engineering within PNC’s Independent Risk Management organization.
This is a hybrid position which provides flexibility to work both in the office and remotely and is based in Houston, TX. Certain job responsibilities may require time in the office on a regular basis.
We are seeking the following qualifications:
Evidence of success in working in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
Experience in major onshore US basins preferred.
Prior experience with petroleum engineering software Aries or PHDWin is required.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel including advanced functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros) and data analysis tools.
Proficiency in Microsoft Access including database design, query, and reporting data analytics.
Experience in Spotfire (or equivalent) to create and maintain dashboards, visualizations with the ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets.
Ability to communicate engineering findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability and willingness to keep abreast of industry trends, basin trends, A&D trends, and operator track records.
Familiarity and/or experience in Enverus (or similar) to analyze data, assess performance, and provide actionable insights.
Serve as a resource and partner for the entire bank for knowledge and insight regarding basic engineering analysis techniques and energy-related trends, including support for projects such as renewables, ESG initiatives, and carbon capture.
Collaborative team player willing to partner on projects and meetings.
Experience at an active E&P company, third-party reserve audit firm, A&D firm, or financial/banking institution.
Professional engineering license and/or finance experience is a plus.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
Support PNC Energy Team, including Credit, CPG/Underwriting, and C&IB.
Conduct independent engineering due diligence for deals and redeterminations of RBL and Midstream US oil and gas clients, assessing viability and risks.
Evaluate technical risks and communicate findings to the team.
Apply reserve reporting methodologies adhering to policies and guidelines.
Communicate key findings effectively through documentation and meetings.
Develop final approval packages with engineering outputs and summaries.
Other Roles and Responsibilities:
Interface with clients and bank representatives.
Attend meetings, possibly requiring travel.
Create and present semi-annual technical analysis reports.
Support for existing clients with data and loan value proposals.
Job Description
Monitor reservoir production and evaluate development opportunities.
Provide forecasting, tracking, and reporting for oil and gas production.
Analyze root causes of failures and report on disruptions.
Identify and recommend enhanced recovery opportunities.
Lead development and support of reservoir standards and practices.
Qualifications
Candidates should demonstrate relevant knowledge, skills, and experience, including a bachelor’s degree (master’s or higher preferred), 8+ years of industry experience, and relevant certifications. A professional engineering license or finance background is a plus.
