The Team you will join:

Fidelity Systematic Investing (FSI) brings together our systematic capabilities across Quant, Equity, Fixed Income and Multi-Asset to deliver solutions to clients. We use quantitative techniques to implement systematic approaches to portfolio construction and investment research while building a common infrastructure that leverages Fidelity’s research platform.

What you will be doing:

The Quant Analyst will support Fidelity’s quant efforts by rotating through the systematic team working on research projects to resolve quantitative problems. This unique exposure to a wide range of projects is an ideal entry into the financial industry. Scientific expertise and extensive modelling underpin our proprietary methodology for research, combined with a pragmatic approach to building solutions. We use quantitative, statistical and machine learning methods to deliver a wide range of solutions to clients, methods cover alpha capture, multifactor portfolios, portfolio construction, risk management and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research into and development of relative value models to improve our models used in portfolios.
  • Research into and development of models to measure risk and exposure.
  • Research into and development of portfolio construction techniques.
  • Be aware of the current Anti-Money Laundering requirements as they affect the business.
  • To be familiar with and adhere to the requirements of Fidelity’s code of ethics.

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills as evidenced by an appropriate PhD e.g. Maths, Engineering, Physics, Statistics.
  • Familiarity with a variety of mathematical and statistical techniques.
  • Experience applying statistical techniques to extract information from data would be a plus (including machine learning approaches).
  • An ability to think for oneself and develop ideas from generic premises.
  • Strong Python skills with knowledge of common libraries such as pandas, numpy & scipy.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Strong inter-personal skills; effective communicator at all levels from Fund Accounting to Portfolio Manager to CIO.
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to multi-task and prioritise workload accordingly.
  • Strong research track record with rigorous analytical mind.

How you’ll be supported:

You’ll start the graduate programme with a comprehensive induction, where you’ll be introduced to investment management and how it fits into the City and the financial markets. As you progress, we’ll prepare you to sit the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level 1 exam.

All successful new joiners will be invited to the Investment Management (IM) Induction & Technical training which will be hosted by the IM Academy, where Investment Professionals train Investment Professionals of the future. The training will provide an introduction the IM functions and equip you with technical knowledge, skills, and behaviours that will enable you to succeed in your role.
