Job Description

Role SummaryWe are seeking an experienced engineering leader to oversee a team responsible for the operation, reliability, and improvement of SCADA systems and data communications supporting water and wastewater facilities. This role combines people leadership, technical oversight, and project coordination to ensure safe, secure, and effective automation systems. The ideal candidate has a strong background in SCADA, PLC‑based automation, or OT cybersecurity, along with proven experience managing technical teams.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise a team of Instrumentation & Controls Engineers supporting SCADA systems and communication networks.Provide technical direction on automation standards, control system architecture, and best practices in process control.Oversee high‑level SCADA and automation projects, including design, troubleshooting, and system improvements.Manage contractor work related to control system installation, upgrades, and maintenance across multiple facilities.Coordinate with Operations, maintenance teams, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.Coach, mentor, and evaluate staff performance through regular check‑ins and formal reviews.Support development and enforcement of automation policies, standards, and procedures.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.5+ years of experience with SCADA systems, industrial automation, or OT cybersecurity, including team leadership experience.Strong proficiency with Allen‑Bradley PLCs, including development of AOIs and UDTs.Experience with HMI/SCADA platforms and industrial communication networks (telemetry, VLANs, etc.).Familiarity with automation standards and regulated environments is preferred.Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.Proficiency with standard business software (Microsoft Office).Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally to regional facilities.Work EnvironmentOffice‑based role with periodic field visits to operating facilities.Occasional travel outside the local metro area.BenefitsCompetitive salary $120,000-$145,000+ and incentive programMedical, dental, and vision insuranceRetirement plan with company contributionPaid time off and holidaysRemote/hybrid work options (role‑dependent)Training, tuition reimbursement, and certification support
