Platform Engineering Manager / AI Data Platform / Remote

A rapidly growing organization in the engineering and manufacturing space is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team focused on building and scaling modern cloud-based platforms, including a greenfield AI-driven data platform initiative. This role will oversee a group of engineers working across infrastructure, platform, and data layers, supporting a business that is investing heavily in modernizing its technology stack and moving toward more scalable, cloud-native solutions.

In this role, you’ll partner closely with senior leadership, product, and cross-functional engineering teams to drive technical direction, delivery, and team development. This is a highly visible position where you’ll balance hands-on technical guidance with people leadership, helping to shape architecture decisions while also mentoring engineers and building a strong, collaborative team culture. This team is a blend of platform and data engineers, and this role will sit at the intersection of infrastructure and data, helping to shape and scale a new AI-focused data platform from the ground up. The ideal candidate brings a background in platform or DevOps engineering, experience leading teams, and a systems-oriented mindset with the ability to operate across multiple layers of the stack. This individual will focus on improving engineering processes, enabling scalable infrastructure, and supporting data-driven initiatives, while ensuring alignment with broader business goals.

This role is 100% remote with core collaboration hours between 11 AM - 3 PM CT.

Required Skills & Experience

• 1+ years of experience managing or leading engineering teams
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or cloud infrastructure roles
• Strong experience with at least one major cloud provider (Azure preferred, AWS also acceptable)
• Experience working with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or similar
• Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies
• Proven ability to lead technical projects and guide architectural decisions
• Experience working across infrastructure, platform, and/or data engineering teams
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment practices
• Ability to mentor engineers and support career development across a team
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience working in regulated or manufacturing environments
• Exposure to data platforms, data pipelines, or analytics infrastructure
• Experience supporting or building internal developer platforms
• Familiarity with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments
• Background working in organizations undergoing modernization or digital transformation
