On behalf of a client in our partner network, we are currently looking for a Policy & Regulatory Strategy Manager to join their team.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Our client is one of the UK's leading integrated energy businesses, with operations spanning generation, distribution, and retail. Operating in a sector undergoing fundamental regulatory change and driven by net zero targets, energy market reform, and increased government intervention, they are building a dedicated policy and regulatory strategy capability to ensure the business can anticipate, shape, and respond to the evolving landscape with speed and precision.

THE ROLE

As Policy & Regulatory Strategy Manager, you will be the company's expert on UK and European energy policy and regulation, monitoring developments, assessing their business impact, and leading the company's engagement with regulators and policymakers. You will work closely with the General Counsel, Strategy Director, and Government Affairs team to translate policy signals into commercial and strategic action.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Monitor UK and EU energy policy and regulatory developments, providing timely and commercially relevant analysis to senior leadership.
  • Lead responses to regulatory consultations, coordinating input from legal, commercial, and technical teams.
  • Develop the company's policy positions and supporting evidence based on key regulatory issues.
  • Build and manage relationships with regulators, government officials, and industry bodies.
  • Advise internal teams on regulatory risk and opportunity as part of major project or investment decisions.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 5–8 years of experience in energy policy, regulatory affairs, public policy consulting, or a government relations role.
  • Deep understanding of UK energy regulation and policy, including Ofgem, DESNZ, and the broader net zero legislative agenda.
  • Strong analytical and written communication skills, able to synthesise complex policy developments into clear business implications.
  • Comfortable operating at the interface of government, regulation, and commercial business.
  • Experience engaging directly with regulators or government bodies is strongly preferred.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Base salary of £85,000 – £110,000, depending on experience.
  • Annual bonus with individual and company performance components.
  • Defined benefit or defined contribution pension (depending on tenure).
  • Private health cover, 28 days holiday, and hybrid working from the London office.
