Role Overview:

BlackRock is seeking to hire a Portfolio Architect to join its Global Cash Management team. This role will sit within the Cash Portfolio Management team and focus on building and enhancing the investment platform, tools, and analytics that support portfolio construction, liquidity management, and trading across our global cash strategies.

The role requires close partnership with senior portfolio managers, traders, risk managers, and BlackRock technology teams to develop scalable solutions that enhance efficiency, automation, risk oversight, and portfolio optimization.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with an understanding of financial markets and portfolio construction, developing robust and extensible tools that directly support live portfolio management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and enhance portfolio management and analytics tools, primarily in Python, to support liquidity management, risk monitoring, and investment decision-making.
  • Develop, deploy, maintain, and monitor portfolio engineering algorithms and workflow automation solutions.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve operational processes using data analytics and scalable technology solutions.
  • Partner with portfolio managers to translate investment processes into systematic, production-ready tools.
  • Integrate portfolio architect solutions into BlackRock’s technology ecosystem, including Aladdin.
  • Collaborate with BlackRock technology teams to ensure business requirements are clearly defined and implemented effectively.
  • Support reporting, analytics, and monitoring frameworks used in daily portfolio oversight.
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory considerations impacting cash portfolios.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or other quantitative fields.
  • 3+ years of experience in investment management, trading, or finance-related fields preferred.
  • Foundational understanding of money markets, fixed income instruments, or liquidity products is a plus.
  • Strong programming skills in Python (preferred), and/or Java with solid object-oriented programming experience.
  • Knowledge of the Python libraries (Pandas, NumPy, PySpark, Streamlit, etc.) and experience working with large datasets and statistical processing.
  • Experience with project management, software development lifecycle (SDLC), including version control, and testing frameworks.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau & Power BI) and Snowflake.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across investment, risk, and technology teams.
  • High degree of professional integrity, discretion, and judgment.
  • Ability to organize and operate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness and capability to adopt, learn and effectively utilize AI tools enhance productivity and decision-making.

Our hybrid work model
