About the Role
Ironwood Wealth Management is seeking a Portfolio Operations Associate to play a critical role in the execution and integrity of our investment operations.
This role is responsible for owning transaction execution and control across client portfolios, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and consistency in all operational workflows. It is a hands-on position best suited for someone who thrives in a high-accountability environment and takes pride in getting the details right.
The ideal candidate has prior experience in wealth management operations and strong proficiency in Black Diamond, with the ability to navigate and support workflows within the platform.
What You’ll Do
Transaction Execution & Controls
- Own end-to-end execution of client transactions, including money movement (ACH, wire, journal, distributions, contributions) and related account activity
- Determine and implement appropriate funding methods, including use of available cash, raising cash through trades, or margin where applicable
- Ensure all transactions are executed accurately, timely, and in accordance with firm policies
- Serve as the final control point for transaction accuracy, including account, amount, payee, timing, and related election changes
- Maintain clear and complete documentation of all transaction activity and final state
Black Diamond System Ownership
- Utilize Black Diamond for account management, reporting, and operational workflows
- Support data integrity, reconciliation, and workflow execution within the platform
- Assist in optimizing workflows and improving operational efficiency
Portfolio & Account Operations
- Complete system setup and maintenance of client accounts across custodial and internal platforms
- Maintain accurate account records and ensure data integrity across systems
- Process account updates, features, and ongoing maintenance
Investment Operations Support
- Support implementation of Investment Policy Statements (IPS) and portfolio changes
- Assist with Investment Advisory Agreements (IAAs) from an operational and billing alignment perspective
- Provide support for trading and rebalancing activities as needed
Billing, Reporting & Compliance
- Support billing processes, including validation of fee schedules and account coding
- Assist with operational reporting and internal controls
- Support audits and regulatory requirements
Documentation & Process Integrity
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions and activities within internal systems
- Ensure transaction documentation is properly stored in client Cloud files
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and operational best practices
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- 2 to 5 plus years of experience in wealth management, RIA operations, or portfolio administration
- Experience with custodians such as Schwab and Fidelity
- Strong understanding of account types, money movement, and operational workflows
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred:
- Strong experience with Black Diamond preferred
- Experience with trading support or portfolio operations
- Familiarity with CRM systems such as Dynamics or Salentica
- Experience with billing and account coding
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $70,000 to $85,000, depending on experience and system proficiency
- Bonus potential up to 12 percent
