Job Description

The Analyst is a mid-senior level position responsible for overseeing the fundamental and analytical needs of the European Power desk. In coordination with the Trading team, the overall objective of this role is to create and maintain a European Power stack model, fundamental data dashboard and assist in providing ideas for market hedging and relative value opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain the data analytics, European power stack and a data visualization hub for the desk
  • Assist in recognising relative value market opportunities and hedging strategies through a fundamental approach depending on the needs of the desk
  • Create visualization tools for hourly products and assist to price discovery/confirmation of various asset type hourly flexibility products (renewables, clean spark spreads, lignite spreads et al)
  • Coordinate with Sales, Research and other organizations across Markets and Securities Services and the broader business to provide updates and views for the European Power market
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by your role which will be communicated to you
  • Obtain and maintain all registrations/licenses which are required for the role, within the appropriate timeframe

Recommended Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years experience in a Power fundamental analyst role with deep fundamental knowledge of European markets (mainly CWE, SEE, UK)
  • Knowledge of European power stack from a flow based market coupling perspective
  • Knowledge of hydro optimisation modelling, nuclear modulation modelling, wind/solar and residual demand modelling
  • Able to build from scratch a European power stack (Python/C)
  • Create a fundamental central database and dashboard with visualisation
  • Interacting daily with traders, situated on trading floor, assisting with discovery of relative value market opportunities (CSS,CLS, cross border, time spreads) and participating in the creation of trading strategies
  • Strong coding skills, data analytics knowledge

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
