Who You Are

This position primarily involves support and design of power supply, power assemblies, electronic loads and related power electronics products for commercial, industrial, research laboratories and military markets. Responsibilities include support of design and test of electronic circuits as part of a multi-discipline team.

The position requires technical skills, interpersonal skills, and personal initiative. The responsibilities of this position will be accomplished while working under the immediate direction of a Project, Electrical, Test or Production Engineer. This position will implicate developing first articles or new value-added assemblies combining electrical, mechanical design, and prototype procedure, for power supplies systems or loads typically in the 10W to 100 KW power range; 3V to 10kV voltage range using a combination of linear, switching power supplies along with combination of analog/ digital control and supervising circuits.

This is a hands-on position that exposes to all phases of design, concept, evaluation of alternate components and topologies, engineering changes support and test of new products release as well as legacy designs thru lifecycle stages.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of power assembly, standard unit modification and addition of new model options in a series or configuration of systems, cabinets
  • Ensure all prototypes and power assemblies comply with UL, NEC, CSA, CE safety
  • Generate schematics, collaborate with PCB designers on layout and component
  • Placement, and develop initial breadboard concepts and prototypes.
  • Contributing to the design and optimization of magnetic components such as transformers and inductors for power supply applications. Performing evaluation and test procedures
  • Assembles chassis, racks, and top assembly first articles while creating, recording assembly steps for the prototypes while following engineering assembly drawings, block diagrams procedures, manufacturing instruction operation sheets.
  • Generate manufacturing instructions and procedures in support of product build requirements and generate ECNs as required
  • Assisting in the preparation of technical documentation, including design specifications, creating and checking test plans, design test fixtures and assembly aids for production. Record, analyze, and interpret test data, making necessary product modifications and conducting retests.
  • Perform benchmark troubleshooting for competitor units' concept and of prototypes
  • Perform hands-on prototyping, subassembly builds, first-article assemblies (chassis, racks, and top-level), and benchmark troubleshooting with minimal supervision.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to production personnel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or equivalent plus two or more years of experience in engineering environment in testing and troubleshooting electronic assemblies
  • OR Associate Degree in Electrical, Electromechanical or equivalent technical certificate plus 4 years of experience.
  • Thorough understanding of power conversion principles and basic converter topologies understanding of analog circuits and familiarity with digital electronics applied to power supplies control.
  • Hands-on experience for electronic assemblies (design verification, troubleshooting, bench work)
  • Computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, and a familiarity with electronics design tools such Cadence, Altium, PADS, KiCad, etc.)
  • Design using Schematic Capture and PCB Design; utilize CAE/CAD software to create/view, BOM, electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Perform correction and update drawings using SolidWorks 2D and 3D modeling
  • Knowledge or ability to quick learn the requirements of various regulatory agency standards so final product will obtain UL, ISO 9001, CE, MIL or similar compliance.
