Business Systems Analyst (BSA) – Retail Product, Content & Analytics
Role Summary
The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) will support digital transformation initiatives by bridging Product, Merchandising, Content, and Technology teams. This role requires strong retail domain expertise, a product‑centric mindset, and hands‑on Power BI analytics experience to enable insight‑driven decision making across assortment, pricing, inventory, and product content.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring high‑quality, trusted product and content data flows seamlessly across enterprise systems, digital channels, and analytical platforms, supporting both in‑store and omnichannel experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Retail Product & Business Analysis
- Partner with Product Management, Merchandising, Pricing, Supply Chain, and Digital teams to understand retail strategies, product objectives, and operational needs.
- Translate business and product needs into clear functional, data, and reporting requirements, including user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Support initiatives across the product lifecycle, including assortment planning, SKU onboarding, pricing and promotion changes, and product rationalization.
- Analyze impacts of changes across core retail, digital, and analytics ecosystems, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.
Product Content Management (PCM / PIM)
- Support product content management capabilities including product attributes, hierarchy, digital content, and enrichment processes.
- Work with business and technology teams to define requirements for product data consistency and completeness across systems such as PIM/PCM platforms, and downstream analytical systems.
- Ensure alignment of product content definitions, hierarchies, and metadata to support search, browse, and reporting use cases.
- Partner with data and digital teams to improve product content quality, governance, and lifecycle controls.
Analytics & Power BI
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports focused on product performance, sales, margin, inventory, and content completeness.
- Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to define KPIs, metrics, and semantic models.
- Deliver executive‑ready insights for senior leadership, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and actionable outcomes.
- Enable self‑service analytics through effective documentation, metric definitions, and report enablement.
Stakeholder & Delivery Management
- Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders by challenging assumptions, identifying gaps, and proposing practical, data‑driven solutions.
- Facilitate workshops and working sessions to align on product, content, and analytics requirements.
- Ensure adherence to data quality, governance, security, and non‑functional requirements across solutions.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst / Business Analyst within a retail or consumer‑facing enterprise environment.
- Strong understanding of retail product domains, including assortment, pricing, promotions, inventory, and product hierarchies.
- Demonstrated experience supporting Product Content Management (PCM / PIM) or product data capabilities.
- Proven hands‑on Power BI expertise, including:
- Dashboard and report development
- Data modeling and DAX
- Strong ability to translate complex business needs into functional, data, and analytics requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, with experience engaging cross‑functional teams and senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within large‑scale retail organizations and multi‑banner environments.
- Familiarity with product‑centric Agile teams and modern delivery practices.
- Experience working with enterprise data platforms, data warehouses, or cloud analytics ecosystems.
- Exposure to digital commerce, product search, or content enrichment processes.
