Our client, a global leader in specialty chemicals, is seeking a highly experienced Principal Chemical Process Engineer to join their innovative R&D team. This senior role will focus on the design, optimization, and scale-up of chemical processes for new product development and existing product enhancements. You will be instrumental in driving process improvements, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in chemical manufacturing. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles, extensive experience in process design and simulation, and a proven ability to solve complex technical challenges in a manufacturing environment. You will mentor junior engineers and contribute significantly to the company's technological advancements.

Responsibilities:

Lead the conceptualization, design, and development of new chemical processes, from laboratory scale to pilot and full commercial scale. Optimize existing chemical processes to improve yield, reduce costs, enhance safety, and minimize environmental impact. Utilize process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) for process modeling, analysis, and design validation. Conduct feasibility studies and techno-economic evaluations for new process technologies. Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). Perform process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement safety measures to ensure compliance with safety regulations. Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and operations teams to ensure smooth technology transfer and successful scale-up. Troubleshoot and resolve complex process-related issues in manufacturing operations. Stay abreast of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies in chemical process engineering. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior chemical engineers. Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and presentations for management and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in chemical process design, development, and scale-up within the chemical or related industries. Extensive experience with process simulation tools and techniques. Strong knowledge of unit operations, reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and mass transfer. Proven experience in process safety management (PSM) and hazard analysis. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience mentoring junior engineers. Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Experience with pilot plant operations and troubleshooting manufacturing issues is highly desirable. Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to chemical manufacturing and environmental protection.
