Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Principal Chemical Process Engineer to lead innovative projects. This role requires deep expertise in designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting complex chemical processes. You will be responsible for developing process simulations, conducting pilot plant studies, and scaling up laboratory processes to full production. Collaboration with R&D, manufacturing, and safety teams is essential. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in reaction engineering, separations, and process control, with a proven ability to drive efficiency and safety in chemical operations. This position requires on-site presence to effectively manage projects and laboratory work.
Responsibilities: Design and develop new chemical processes and optimize existing ones for efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness. Conduct rigorous process simulations using industry-standard software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS). Plan, execute, and analyze data from pilot plant trials and scale-up studies. Develop PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams) and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams). Ensure all process designs comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and engineering departments. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers. Troubleshoot process issues and implement effective solutions. Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and project proposals. Stay current with advancements in chemical engineering principles, technologies, and best practices. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in chemical process design and development. Extensive experience with process simulation software. Strong understanding of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, mass transfer, and fluid dynamics. Proven experience in process scale-up and technology transfer. Excellent knowledge of safety protocols and HAZOP studies. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate. Experience in the pharmaceutical or specialty chemicals industry is a plus. Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable. This is a critical on-site role based in Seattle, Washington, US , where you will have the opportunity to make significant contributions to groundbreaking chemical innovations.
