This senior role is critical for optimizing existing chemical processes, developing new manufacturing technologies, and ensuring the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of operations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of chemical engineering principles, process simulation, scale-up, and plant operations. You will lead complex projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, operations, and safety departments. Key responsibilities include conducting feasibility studies, designing process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), performing mass and energy balances, and selecting appropriate equipment. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and optimization of chemical processes. Conduct process simulations and modeling to predict performance and identify improvements. Develop PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and equipment specifications. Oversee process scale-up from laboratory to pilot plant and full commercial production. Troubleshoot and resolve complex operational issues in manufacturing plants. Implement process safety management (PSM) principles and ensure regulatory compliance. Identify and evaluate new technologies to enhance process efficiency, yield, and sustainability. Collaborate with R&D, operations, and maintenance teams to achieve project goals. Mentor and guide junior process engineers. Prepare technical reports and present findings to management and stakeholders. Qualifications: Ph.D. or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in chemical process engineering within the chemical industry. Extensive experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS). Deep understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and separation processes. Proven experience in process design, scale-up, and plant operations. Strong knowledge of process safety management (PSM) and HAZOP studies. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead technical teams. Experience with batch and continuous processing is a plus.
