Job Description

Our client, a prominent engineering consulting firm, is seeking a highly experienced Principal Electrical Engineer with a specialization in Power Systems to join their team in Denver, Colorado, US . This role is critical in leading complex projects related to power generation, transmission, distribution, and renewable energy integration. The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical expertise, strong project leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of power system analysis, design, and implementation.

Responsibilities:

Lead the design and analysis of electrical power systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution networks. Perform load flow, short circuit, stability, and arc flash studies using industry-standard software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, SKM). Develop detailed engineering designs, specifications, and single-line diagrams for power systems. Manage engineering projects from conceptualization through to commissioning, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and schedule. Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams, including junior engineers and designers. Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide expert technical consultation. Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards (e.g., NESC, IEEE, IEC), and regulations. Develop and review proposals and cost estimates for new projects. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in the power industry, including renewable energy and grid modernization. Perform site visits and field investigations as required. Mentor and develop engineering staff, fostering technical excellence and professional growth. Contribute to the development of company best practices and technical standards. Qualifications:

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems. 10+ years of progressive experience in electrical power system engineering. Professional Engineer (PE) license is required. Extensive experience with power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, SKM, PSCAD). Deep understanding of power generation, transmission, distribution, and protection principles. Proven experience in leading complex power system projects. Strong knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and best practices. Excellent leadership, communication, and client management skills. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities. Experience with renewable energy integration (solar, wind) is highly desirable. Familiarity with substation design and equipment is a plus.
