Principal Industrial Engineer

Our client, a renowned leader in advanced manufacturing and technology solutions, is seeking an exceptional Principal Industrial Engineer to join their innovative team in San Francisco, California, US . This is a critical on-site role focused on optimizing complex manufacturing processes, improving efficiency, and driving significant cost savings. The Principal Industrial Engineer will be responsible for analyzing existing production systems, identifying bottlenecks, and designing and implementing robust solutions to enhance productivity, quality, and safety. You will leverage advanced engineering principles, data analysis, and simulation tools to model and improve workflows, facility layouts, and material handling systems. This role demands a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies. Key responsibilities include leading cross-functional teams on major optimization projects, developing long-term operational strategies, mentoring junior engineers, and staying at the forefront of industrial engineering advancements. The ideal candidate possesses a master's degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field, coupled with at least 8 years of progressive experience in industrial engineering, with a significant portion in a principal or lead capacity. Demonstrated success in implementing large-scale process improvements and achieving measurable results is essential. Proficiency in simulation software (e.g., Arena, AnyLogic), CAD, and data analysis tools is required. Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills are vital for collaborating with diverse stakeholders and driving impactful change within our San Francisco facility.

Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex industrial engineering projects. Analyze manufacturing processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend solutions for optimization. Develop and utilize simulation models to test and validate process improvements. Optimize facility layout, workflow, and material handling systems. Apply lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to drive continuous improvement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and R&D. Develop and implement performance metrics and control systems. Mentor and guide junior industrial engineers. Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations. Stay current with emerging technologies and methodologies in industrial engineering. Qualifications: Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field. 8+ years of experience in industrial engineering, with significant experience in a lead or principal role. Proven track record of successful process improvement projects in manufacturing environments. Expertise in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies. Proficiency in simulation software (e.g., Arena, AnyLogic) and CAD tools. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data analysis skills. Excellent leadership, communication, and project management abilities. Experience working in complex manufacturing settings. Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
