Our client, a global leader in advanced manufacturing solutions, is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Principal Industrial Engineer to join their fully remote, forward-thinking team. As a Principal Industrial Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing current manufacturing processes, identifying areas for improvement, and designing and implementing new systems and technologies. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, quality, and R&D, to ensure seamless integration of engineered solutions. Your expertise in data analysis, process mapping, and root cause analysis will be essential in achieving significant gains in productivity, quality, and cost reduction. This role requires a self-starter with exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to influence stakeholders remotely.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and implementation of optimized manufacturing processes and systems. Conduct detailed analysis of existing operations to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement. Apply lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Develop and utilize process simulation models to evaluate design alternatives and predict outcomes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and methodologies into production environments. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions. Perform root cause analysis for production issues and implement effective corrective actions. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in industrial engineering, automation, and manufacturing technologies. Prepare technical reports, present findings, and make recommendations to senior management. Effectively manage projects from conception through implementation in a remote setting.
Qualifications:
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in industrial engineering, with a focus on process optimization and manufacturing operations. Proven expertise in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt preferred), and statistical process control (SPC). Proficiency with simulation software (e.g., Arena, AnyLogic) and CAD tools. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead complex initiatives. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams and levels. Demonstrated ability to work independently and drive results in a remote environment. Experience in the automotive, aerospace, or consumer goods manufacturing sectors is a plus. Strong understanding of data analysis and visualization tools.
