Job Description

Our client, a leader in advanced manufacturing and technology solutions, is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Principal Industrial Process Engineer to join their elite team in San Diego, California . This critical role requires a deep understanding of industrial engineering principles, process optimization, and lean manufacturing methodologies to drive significant improvements in production efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

Lead the design, analysis, and optimization of complex industrial manufacturing processes to enhance throughput, reduce waste, and improve product quality. Develop and implement innovative solutions for production challenges, utilizing advanced engineering principles and data-driven approaches. Conduct detailed process mapping, time studies, and value stream analyses to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement. Design and oversee the implementation of new equipment and automation systems, ensuring seamless integration into existing workflows. Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and training materials. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, quality assurance, and supply chain, to achieve operational excellence. Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical expertise. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in industrial engineering, automation, and manufacturing technologies, evaluating their applicability to company operations. Lead Kaizen events and other lean manufacturing initiatives. Analyze production data to identify trends, root causes of problems, and opportunities for improvement. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Qualifications:

Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; Ph.D. preferred. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in industrial process engineering, with a strong emphasis on manufacturing environments. Demonstrated expertise in process design, optimization, statistical process control (SPC), and lean manufacturing principles (e.g., Six Sigma Black Belt certification highly desirable). Proven experience with simulation software, CAD tools, and advanced data analysis techniques. Strong understanding of automation, robotics, and manufacturing technologies. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization. Experience in project management and leading cross-functional teams. Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
