Our client, a pioneering leader in aerospace and defense technologies, is seeking a highly accomplished Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their dynamic team in Miami, Florida, US . This role is critical for the design, development, and testing of next-generation aerospace components and systems, with a particular focus on advanced materials and lightweight structures. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in mechanical design, finite element analysis (FEA), materials science, and product lifecycle management, coupled with a strong leadership aptitude and a passion for innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the mechanical design and analysis of complex aerospace components and assemblies, utilizing state-of-the-art CAD and CAE tools. Perform advanced FEA, including structural, thermal, and vibration analysis, to ensure design integrity and performance under extreme conditions. Evaluate and select appropriate advanced materials (e.g., composites, high-strength alloys) for aerospace applications, considering factors like strength-to-weight ratio, thermal properties, and manufacturability. Develop and validate analytical models against experimental test data. Oversee the prototyping, testing, and qualification phases of new designs, ensuring compliance with stringent industry standards and specifications. Collaborate closely with manufacturing, systems engineering, and testing teams to ensure seamless product development from concept to production. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Identify and implement innovative design solutions to reduce weight, enhance performance, and lower costs. Prepare detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports. Contribute to the strategic planning and technology roadmap for mechanical engineering within the organization.
Qualifications:
Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical design and analysis, with a significant portion focused on aerospace applications. Deep expertise in FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS) and CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks). Strong understanding of materials science, particularly in composites, metallic alloys, and ceramics used in aerospace. Proven experience with structural testing and validation methodologies. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail. Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience mentoring engineering teams. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present complex technical information. Familiarity with aerospace industry standards (e.g., AS9100) and regulations.
